Our Dept
Media Studies is a very successful department at Springwood.
According to our ALPS system of calculating student achievement nationally, our department is currently a grade B+ for year 12 students and an A- for year 13 students. This means that nationally, we as a department are on the cusp of being in the top 25% of schools teaching Media Studies.
If you are a year 12 student and gained a C grade in English, then you can expect to gain a B grade in Media Studies in year 13 (providing you work hard too!). Therefore, we add significant value to your grades.
Mr McKenzie, Mr Pettitt and Ms Phillips are our team, and you can find us in H2.

Welcome to Media
The resources on these pages are designed to help Media students at Springwood High School become successful. The information on each page is task based with supporting materials but remember there is significantly more material in the Media Drive in school!
If I didn't study Media Studies, it would be a great regret as I don't think I would be on the same career path as I am today. I have learnt a considerable amount of information from this subject which has impacted my skills in all aspects especially in Photoshop and Aftereffects.
Ronaldas Brivinskas
Just before Christmas Ronnie Brivinskas nervously prepared his digital resources and print portfolio and journeyed to London for his interview at the prestigious Ravensbourne Media, Art and design College.
Ronnie is a talented year 13 student with a great work ethic and bags of initiative. His portfolio was carefully prepared, with only the best of his Media and Photography work being selected for interview.
He made his journey and within 10 minutes of seeing and hearing his various media materials, he was given an unconditional offer for a undergraduate course in Motion Graphics. Ronnie's friends and family were all ecstatic about his success - he even texted a friend at 11.30pm!
One week later, the equally talented Tom Sharman went for his interview at Ravensbourne and He too received an "unconditional offer" to study Web Media.
All the members of Springwood Media Department are very proud and pleased for our two fabulous students.
